Consall Forge Pottery
Baed in Staffordshire, UK
Nick Williams is a member of our family (Harry's Dad) as well as the founder of Consall Forge Pottery; a small ceramics studio established in 1983, located alongside the Caldon Canal at Consall Forge, an idyllic location in the heart of the Consall Nature Reserve and RSPB sanctuary.
Nick produces a comprehensive range of domestic stoneware by hand. By working on small batches of each item he is able to maintain a freshness and vitality of form which is often missing from production-thrown ware.
The pots are thrown and turned on an old electric Alsager potter's wheel using a variety of bats depending on the diameter of the pieces. Unique glaze recipes made with a combination of oxides achieve a range of glazes complementary to the working techniques. Titanium Dioxide is used to produce a hard wearing surface finish. The pots are then fired in Nick's own hand-built kiln in his studio.
